Akshaya Rao is in the final semester of the 1 Year Professional Photography program. Here, we present selected work from two projects done by her for her final semester.
PROJECT 1 : Visual Story
Kattaikuttu gurkulam, a small residential school in Kanchipuram, near Chennai. KKG teaches an ancient form of theatre called Kattaikuttu, it involves singing, dancing and theatre skills, the art form is named thus due to the usage of ‘kattai’, i.e., wood in the costumes and props. It is one of the major sources of entertainment for the rural population and is based on stories from the Hindu epics, Ramayana and Mahabharatha.
